My dad was 60 years old when he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Just four months later, he was gone. He loved my kids deeply as they were only 8, 6, and 4 years old at the time. The kind of grandpa who got down on the floor to play and made them laugh just by walking into the room.

Now, my kids are in their twenties. If only he could see who they've become. I know he’d be so proud. 

A few years ago, I found a letter he’d written me back in 1995. Reading it again felt like he was still here. Like he was showing up for me across time.

That moment reminded me of a business idea I had back 17 years ago, but it seemed to crazy, not doable back then.

What if my dad could have written my kids letters for them to open on their 21st Birthday, On their wedding day or when they had their first child?

This reminder happened at the same time I was writing my first book, The Magic Train. This book was written to help people find purpose in every mile and meaning in their life.

You think you are the conductor of your train, but you are not, God is. And God made my train take a sharp left turn. I did not see it coming. This crazy idea not only resurfaced, but it ignited a passion, a purpose and a legacy. This crazy idea, was what I was meant to do all along.

I was thinking I was writing a book to help others, when in fact it worked on myself. It is my prayer that it will do the same for everyone who reads The Magic Train.
